“Girl, just get a loan” isn’t business advice -𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗽.

On the surface, a line of credit or a business loan can feel like access - 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱, it can quietly become a financial trap.

💼 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:

📌Predatory lending masked as “quick funding.”

📌Credit decisions based on biased financial systems.

📌Lack of education around interest rates and repayment terms.

📌Debt tied to personal credit, not protected by the business entity.

📌A cycle of borrowing instead of building capital.

These are more than just financial issues - 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿.

Because here's the thing: You don’t have to take on debt 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀.

You deserve access - not exploitation.

Because debt doesn’t always feel dangerous - 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

"Pour from the overflow, not the flow."- The "𝗭𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆".

That was one of the things I said last week-𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗻𝗼 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗜 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁 (Read the full note in the image.)

Like so many of us, she shared that she once poured everything into a family-and lost it all.

💔 𝗡𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. 𝗡𝗼 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘂𝗽 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻. 𝗡𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.

And now she’s rebuilding-with wisdom, clarity, and community.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗜 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Because Black women founders and women-owned startups aren't just building businesses-𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲:

✅ I stopped pouring into people who weren’t pouring back.
✅ 𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲.
✅ I started protecting my energy and my equity.

It was painful.

It cost me connections-some of them family.

But it gave me back something far more valuable: 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆.
