When the Cradle Comes Crashing Down: Navigating the Challenges of Entrepreneurship as a Female Founder

"The only requirement of having a dream is believing in it"- Molly Barker.

Not long ago, a friend and fellow entrepreneur encountered a truly dreadful client situation.

While working on a bride's makeup, the client abruptly halted the process, claiming the application was, in her own words, 'too heavy". Without hesitation, she proceeded to remove all the makeup and shockingly began doing it herself.

Whether it was due to bridal nerves, a demanding attitude, or a complete bridal meltdown, it was an utterly humiliating experience... one that will certainly not fade easily from memory.

Our business is like our baby. Small or large, homegrown, factory or office, we protect it.

Our business is our pride and joy. Whether big or small, from a humble beginning to a thriving establishment, we fiercely protect it. We shower it with praise, ensuring it basks in the limelight of social media and sparkles with a touch of enchantment that sets it apart.

We envision a bright future for our business and are always ready to go above and beyond when it craves that extra care and attention.

When someone fails to recognize the love and dedication we pour into our cherished venture, it stings like no other, akin to the pain only a devoted caregiver can feel. To them, we might be just a service, but we are a service crafted to exceed expectations - a need that can shift as swiftly as the weather from sunny to stormy.

They cling to the adage ‘The customer is always right’, or ‘I can find a better service at a better price elsewhere’ (for added emphasis).

In the realm of service provision, it's imperative to uphold the value of tolerance. This principle underscores the importance of approaching situations with an open mind and a willingness to comprehend the various perspectives at play.

When challenges arise, it is crucial to delve into the root causes with a sense of curiosity and empathy. By doing so, we can uncover any potential shortcomings, whether they stem from the service provider's practices or the expectations and needs of the service recipients.

Advancing Tolerance: A Multifaceted Approach in Service Delivery

Embracing tolerance in service delivery involves a multifaceted approach. It requires active listening, genuine empathy, and a commitment to seeking common ground.

Rather than jumping to conclusions or assigning blame, a tolerant mindset encourages a nuanced exploration of the factors contributing to a breakdown in service delivery. This nuanced understanding can pave the way for constructive dialogue, problem-solving, and ultimately, the enhancement of the service experience for all parties involved.

Moreover, cultivating a culture of tolerance within a service-oriented organization fosters trust, respect, and collaboration. It creates an environment where differences are acknowledged, valued, and leveraged to drive continuous improvement. By prioritizing tolerance, service providers can build stronger relationships with their clients, adapt more effectively to changing needs, and ultimately, elevate the quality of their offerings.

In essence, the essence of tolerance in service provision lies in its power to bridge divides, foster understanding, and drive positive change. By embodying this value in our interactions and practices, we can navigate challenges with grace, empathy, and a steadfast commitment to delivering exceptional service that meets the diverse needs of our stakeholders.
